Hair growth differs for every person. Some personal characteristics that effect your hair growth follicles are: Age, Gender, Ethnicity, Hair color, Existing health conditions like thyroid, Menopause, Pregnancy, or Autoimmune disease.

THE HAIR GROWTH CYCLE: Hair follicles grow in repeated cycles

Anagen – Growth Phase: This is the active phase of hair follicles. The cells in the root of hair are diving rapidly, extending to the hair shaft. The hair shaft is attached to the papilla, thus enabling the laser to attack the melanin in the shaft and disable the papilla. During his phase the hair follicles are most receptive to the laser light as they are rich in protein and melanin. 85% of hair follicles on our body are in the anagen phase. This period of active growth can be as long as 2-3 weeks for facial and body hair.

Catagen – Transitional Phase: The hair stops growing, and remains in this phase for only 2-3 weeks. During this phase the hair follicle shrinks and the lower part of hair detaches from the papilla. Approximately 5% of our hair follicles are in this phase at any given time.

Telogen – Resting Phase: The hair starts to shed while the follicle is stimulated to begin the new growth cycle. The length of this stage is about 100 days for the healthy follicle on the scalp, but may vary significantly for hair on the other areas of the body. Aproximately 10% of hair follicles are in the telogen phase at any given time.

How Does CoolGlide Laser Work?

Laser targets pigment granule in the hair (melanin) in an effort to destroy hair follicles. The laser energy is conducted through shaft to the follicle via melanin. It produces heat at the follicle and papilla level. This conducted heat injures the follicle and papilla, and retard or prevents future hair growth by that follicle.

How Successful Is Laser Hair Removal?

The results of a single laser hair removal procedure will largely depend on the amount of hair in the treated area that is in the anagen phase. The follicles regenerative capabilities and recuperative powers are highly variable from individual to individual and from one anatomic site to another. In most instances multiple treatment s in a single area are necessary in order to achieve permanent reduction and in some instances treatment may fail to permanently remove all the hair in a given anatomic site since hair follicles in a single area may be at different growth phase at a given time. As your treatments progress, your hair free period will get longer and longer. When you reach your fifth or six treatment, nearing the end of your plan, you can expect to have a hair free period of up to three or four months. After laser treatment, the growth phase period delays of that hair follicle as the resting phase period is prolonged, and the regrowing hairs will be thinner and finer. Since the anagen phase is the most vulnerable for the laser hair treatment, a period of one to three months between treatments is necessary to allow the resting or telogen phase hairs to once again enter the anagen phase and become more sensitive to the laser energy. Temporary hair loss occurs in all patients, for all hair colors, and it usually lasts from one to three months. The Cuter CoolGlide Laser usually produces complete but temporary hair loss, followed by a partial but permanent hair reduction.

Patient Selection

During your initial consultation you will be asked to provide a detailed medical and hormonal history. When indicated, we will request blood tests to uncover any hormone-related causes, which may be associated with the excess production of body hair.

Hair color and the skin type determines which patient will have the best results with laser hair removal. Patients with red, gray, or blond hair should not expect permanent hair reduction. Patients with tan should refrain from laser hair removal until the tan is gone. They should stay out of sun, use bleaching cream (Hydroquinone 4% or Kojic acid) and sun block until the tan is gone (usually 3 – 4 weeks).

Patient should not pluck, wax or have electrolysis for at least six weeks before the laser treatment. Shaving and depilatory creams are allowed because they leave the hair shaft in the follicle.

Patient with a history of HSV 1 or 2 should be on oral antiviral (Zovirax or Famvir) drugs beginning the day before laser treatment because reactivation of HSV 1 or 2 has been reported after laser treatment.

How is the laser treatments performed?

Laser hair removal is a time-consuming but relatively straightforward process. Patient should shave the area that will be treated for the laser hair removal at home. Technician may apply the anesthetic cream to greatly reduce the discomfort associated with the laser hair removal process in the office. Treatment may vary from a few minutes for small areas such as the chin and neck, to a few hours for extensive areas as the legs, back, and chest. After the procedure, cool compresses and soothing gels are applied to the treated areas as needed.

Costs involved in the procedure

Laser hair removal involves delivery of precise and effective energy pulse by the use of sophisticated expensive laser equipment. During your initial consultation, the areas to be treated will be evaluated, and a fee per treatment or group session will be given to you. It will include the procedure and post-procedure visits. Patients may require retreatment sessions, at one to 2 months intervals.

Our aim is provide you with the best result in a safe, effective, and affordable laser treatment using the latest laser technology available on the market today.

Clear & Brilliant

Clear & Brilliant is performed using a laser device with a small roller attachment. The attachment is outfitted with tiny plastic bumps that push into the skin and allow the laser to make tiny injuries to the skin. These micro-injuries force the skin to heal itself, boosting collagen production and generating clear, healthy skin.

CoolGlide Laser Hair Removal

Laser Hair Removal offers a permanent, FDA-approved solution to this problem. Laser hair removal is the most in-demand aesthetic procedure today. With years of perfecting this technology, we can effectively treat even minimally pigmented hair and all skin types. The laser is pulsed for only a fraction of a second. The pigment in the hair absorbs the laser light and converts the light to heat. The heat, in turn, damages the follicle, eliminating or significantly impeding the hair’s growth and destroys its ability to regrow. The number of treatments required varies by individual. It can remove hair from the face or body; such as the arms, underarms, legs, back, bikini area, chin, and upper lip.

****IMPORTANT NOTE – For laser hair removal, please shave the treatment area the night before or day of your treatment. Laser hair removal cannot be performed on tanned skin. Please wait until you are not tan to do your treatments.
